If you like snooping, this post is for you.
Week two of Planting Creative Seeds is all about organizing for creativity. Want to join me in craft room clean up? On Friday morning, at 10am, I walked into my craft room and without picking up a thing, snapped photos.
I’ve made handy labels so you understand my current organizational system:
SO: I’m giving myself this week to clean this room. Only here’s the catch- I’m still a busy mom. I’m going to see how much I can get done in this average week when I just move this onto my priority list without totally rearranging my life.
Why? Because I know a lot of you are busy too. I know the world doesn’t just stop so you can get organized. I also know, if I want to be able to get creative and have fun, I need to get organized.
I’ll release a few more photos over this week on Facebook and Google + for people who follow me on those places. I’ve gotten moving already and with only a little work it looks tens times better than in these pictures. I’m keeping in mind my creative goals for this year so I can try to arrange the space to work with those.
On Friday at 10am we’ll see what I’ve accomplished. Join me and clean up your craft room (or craft cupboard or craft closet) Let’s get organized together.

You might just be my hero! I love your craft room, disorganized and all.. and I can’t wait to see how much you get accomplished. By the way, we have some of the exact same storage bins. I spy some green stackable storage bins from Target in the bottom corner of the last picture.
Did you get yours from Target too? I’ve went back to buy more and I can’t find them anymore! I hope to get some organization done this week. Finally. We are finally starting to organize R’s playroom, which is our arts and crafts spot. Hopefully I’ll have something to link up soon!
So awesome that you shared your real space. I look fwd to the after pictures.
Great idea! I don’t have anything to link up, but I will be following along, hoping to gain some tips for setting up my new craft room when we move in a few weeks. You go, girl!
Love this Alissa. You are brave. The pictures are very honest. Good luck! Can’t wait to see everything that you do.
I am trying to organize my clothes closet and my daughter’s closet for creativity. Crafty with my kids is easy for me, but being creative with our style and wardrobe is not… because our closets are such disasters!! I am trying to organize mine to inspire my creativity. We’ll see how it goes. Right now I got all the clothes off the floor… so that’s a step in the right direction I guess?
Your labels are a hoot! I have some (many) of those same ‘ boxes of random junk’!!!! And I also have 1 or 2 or 3 of those ‘ just don’t open’ doors!!! : ) Thank you for sharing your pics of a ‘lived-in’ craft room! It is soooo nice to see real life rooms verses the fantasy rooms that most of us will NEVER have! I look forward to seeing the stages of change your multi purpose room goes thru! I will be watching the progress and taking notes! I have been SLOWLY working on my own craft space, and am excited to try some of your ideas!!!! I really love your copier prints. How fun to see those!
Kristina, my closets are next if you have any ideas to share, I’m all ears!!!!!
Have a great day!
Debby. : )
I appreciate your comment about being a REAL mom who has to care for the kids, feed everyone, etc. All while tackling a project like this. So it looks like we’re organizational buddies this next week! Look forward to seeing your progress and what comes of the toddler treasure packets (I love that!) and things for the toddler to pull out and destroy
