Craft Room Organization Before and After Pics

Newly Cleaned and Organized Craft Room

Let me pause here and say that right now I am noticing how trained I am by seeing so many magazine-beautiful house shots.

I, who always tell people to let go of perfect, am feeling at this moment, slightly awkward about sharing my mostly clean, but not perfect craft room.  I am reminding myself that, really, many people reading this would be totally THRILLED to have an entire ROOM to craft in…Just letting you know that, yeah,  I have moments of having a hard time letting go of perfect myself.

Here’s my Craft Room that I am So very Grateful to have:

All told, this craft room clean up probably only entailed a few hours worth of work.  It took a week though, because with three young kids and a busy life, I almost never have three hours of free time. (The thought of three full hours alone makes me laugh. That would be so awesome, and so rare right now…and “free time” hee hee hee….)

To be fair, I actually HAD a decent amount of underlying organization going on.  Much of what I did was really clean up.

New Improved Bill Pay Center

  • Removed small items from the shelves and replaced with items toddler is less likely to pull out and destroy.
  • Cleared off the cabinet fronts and reduced to only a few art pieces.
  • Moved kid’s sewing machine out onto hutch where it is easier to access so I can teach 6 year old to sew.
  • Improved bill pay center, made cuter.

Still to do:

  • Re-cover chair
  • Sort items in cupboard on the left

One more way I made the craft room more kids friendly:

Bottom drawer of my sewing table is now filled with kid activities.

We’ve already been using this room more.  I’m so excited to get in here and sew and craft!

This is a seriously lovely craft room- right now we do most of our crafts in our kitchen but I have no organization for any of our materials- it’s something I really need to get to. I completely understood what you meant about not having a huge block of free time to do stuff like this. Once it’s all done I bet it helps out a lot!

Wow! It looks terrific. You really did a great job. It definitely looks like a place anyone would love to craft in … friendly, open, & organized!

Thanks for sharing on Pinterest. Just wondering what brand/model sewing machine you got for your children? Or is it an adult one.

It’s just an old machine my neighbor gave me when she was moving. It happens to be a Singer. It’s got pretty simple controls and top speed isn’t too speedy. I put a crate on the ground to raise up the foot pedal when my son is sewing.
