Picnic Under the Christmas Tree

by Alissa Marquess on December 21, 2012

Three Days away from Christmas and maybe you want to be holly jolly and all, but also you’ve got a lot to get done?  Here’s something you can do that will bring a little Christmas magic into your house without a lot of fuss.

Have a Picnic Under the Christmas Tree

Have a picnic under your Christmas Tree!  It doesn’t have to be complicated or even planned ahead.  Just grab a blanket at lunch time and spread out beneath the glow of Christmas lights.  If you want to make it really fun you can add something like apple cider of hot cocoa.  Use the time to sing a Christmas carol or read a Christmas story.  In our family many stories are read during meal times because it’s the one time when everyone is  quiet while they eat.

Easy “picnic” foods:

  • frozen peas
  • frozen berries
  • baby carrots
  • lunch meat rolled up
  • chunks of cheese with toothpicks
  • juice, hot cocoa, or cider

I hope you have a great weekend! Merry Christmas!

That’s a really sweet idea. We have to keep feeding the children so why not make it festive. Thanks for sharing.

I love this idea. My 4.5 year old & I enjoyed a Christmas-themed picnic outside last week (me in a Santa hat, him chowing down on gingerbread cookies …), but this is perfect for the rainy days we have in the forecast.
