Playing With Color

by Alissa Marquess on November 9, 2010

The past few days I’ve been messing around with my blog and color schemes, and then getting distracted by some of the fun color tools on the web in general.  If playing with color makes your heart beat fast you might enjoy popping around to some of these sites (or you might already know about them!)

COLOURlovers- This site allows you to color patterns that you can download to use other places, create palletes and explore color combos others have created. Useful and inspiring, but could use some better functions for retrieving your favorites.

Polyvore-   Very fashion focused, Polyvore is also a wonderful place for color inspiration.  Create or explore collages made from images across the web.

Color Palette Generator- at this site you can put in a url for an image and see a color palette created from the image.  It will also direct you to a similar site called colorhunter- there you can see images and accompanying color palettes from others a well.

The Hex Hub- charts of color swatches with their hex codes

Colorzilla- a plugin for firefox that allows you to find out the color information on any pixel on your screen.  I grabbed this one because i use firefox, you can find many many of these tools by searching for “pixel color finder” or the like.
