This post is a collection of some of the best places I’ve found online for positive parenting tools.
After looking through the ones I list here, won’t you leave me links of other great resources in the comments? I am looking for the most uplifting parenting places on the web.
(This is the second post in the Series, Finding the Positive Parenting Tools You Need. Other posts: Letting Go of Parenting Guilt, Great Books for Positive Parenting)
About Finding Parenting Advice Online:
Here’s my two cents:
- First off- As with any parenting advice, take what suits you, and leave the rest. Only you know your family the way you do and it is perfectly OK to restructure any of this information to make it work for you.
- The being said, take time to ask yourself, “Am I sure?” When you come across a parenting solution (I’m talking a positive one, not “hit your kid.”) When you come across a parenting tip or solution that seems totally off the wall for you, just pause a second and see if any part of it might work. Sometimes if we experiment with a little creativity in our parenting, question our previous assumptions a bit, we come up with very good results.
- Finally- the second a parenting site or author gets negative, drama filled or snarky, I’m out of there. We’ve got too much information coming our way as it is, might as well stick with the positive stuff.
Places to Find Positive Parenting Tools Online:
I may update this list as I find more fantastic resources, but here’s a good start!
Websites:
- Aha Parenting by Dr Laura Markham. Connection based parenting advice for babies all the way to teens.
- Kidlutions: Many articles and resources for dealing with our kids BIG emotions such as anger and grief.
- The Twin Coach: About MUCH more than multiples parenting. Gina’s article address everything from tantrum to the surprising feelings of motherhood.
- Teacher Tom: Yes, not exactly a parenting blog. Tom blogs about teaching preschoolers, but when you read Tom’s posts you can’t help but look at your own kids with freshly opened eyes as a parent. He helps you see your kids for the teachers they are to you.
- Toddler Approved: The Parenting resource page on Toddler Approved continues to grow. The authors’ parenting posts tend to be practical, positive and doable.
- Not Just Cute: The inspiration behind this series with her Parenting with Positive Guidance eCourse, I decided to work with Amanda to promote her course after I kept on winding up at her site when I clicked on links to great articles about parenting. Look around her site to find a bunch of resources that will help you enjoy your kids.
Facebook:
Of course most sites have a facebook page now, but some stand out by sharing really useful or uplifting information. I feel these are worth following:
- The Hands Free Revolution- if you check out no one else, just check out Rachel’s page. She will change your life for the better.
- The Way of the Peaceful Parent
- Peaceful Parenting
- Loving Earth Mama
- Janet Lansbury, Elevating Childcare
- Regarding Baby
- Bonnie Harris, Connective Parenting
Pinterest- oh yeah, we’ve got a Positive Parenting place on Pinterest
Other Resources:
- The Daily Groove- I enjoy these free emails that only take a moment to read, but help set you up for a good day parenting.
- Raising Playful Tots- this Podcast gives you advice you can put to use in your busy day to help you connect playfully with your kids.
Ok, this list is just the tip of the iceberg. Now, what super inspirational online positive parenting resource do you love?

alissa, as always, a super post! I try to keep my site upbeat and positive with humor because there is already a lot of ugly out there. I’m sometimes shocked by what some folks put out in a negative light about their kids. i try to think….will my kid know I love him/her when they read what i wrote in 20 years, even if it is wrtten with humor about a challenging time? Love The Ands Free Revolution and Teacher Tom. i need to check the others out!
Love all these resources!! Will need to start going through them! I can use all the help I can get.
Great list of resources, I look forward to checking them out. I love Janet Lansbury and Teacher Tom – great recommendations.
Thanks for sharing these resources, Alissa! I already have Teacher Tom on my favorites. Now added AHA. Laura is responsive and that is a great website!
Good morning, Alissa! What a lovely list of resources! I’m honored to be included! I’m ready to head out to the Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children’s conference to present on “Calming the Angry Child”, and finding this post made my day! I adore so many of the resources you listed and I cannot wait to check out a few of the ones that are new to me! We’re all in this together and I always take delight in learning new ways to “think about” how we spend time with the smallest and most impressionable ones amongst us! Great blog! I adore the artistry with which you approach parenting….and LIFE!
Keep shining bright!
Wendy
(Sorry, I accidentally posted this response on your “about” page first!) =)
Great list. Hope to make it on the List In future
Thank you for this! Can’t wait to start checking all this out!!! The more positive advice, the better!!:0)
Hi, I’m very new to your blog so I really don’t know if you mentioned this blog before or not, but I learn a lot about positive parenting from the blog Authentic Parenting http://www.authenticparenting.info/
I have a parenting expert that I follow and she is absolutely amazing……in fact she has changed my parenting for the better. Her name is Sharon Silver from Proactive Parenting. I read her book “Stop Reacting and Start Responding” and it was fantastic. Her website is: http://proactiveparenting.net/ and I’m also following her on Facebook too: http://www.facebook.com/ProactiveParentingTips. I highly recommend checking her out…..I’ve found so much value from her and I’m enjoying being a parent so much more.

Thanks for your advice & resources! I love Katrina Kennison’s book, Mittin Strings Fir Gid and Jane Clayson Johndon’s book I Am Mother.
Sorry for my typos: Mitten Strings For God and Jane Clayson Johnson!
Alissa,
What a terrific list of resources and I am truly honored to be listed along people I consider mentors. Thank you! I completely agree with your paragraph in the beginning about taking what suits you and leaving the rest. I always tell people that no “expert” is more of an expert on your child than you are. As parents we need to be confident that listening to our heart connection with our child gives us more knowledge than any book or class can impart…AND I am all for learning as much as I can about this incredibly important job I’ve been given.
Thank you for this post…it really made my day. Big hugs to you!
- Gina
OH, and BTW…I have no idea why it took me so many months to even know this post was on your blog!
