Recycled Cloth Wipes

by Alissa Marquess on December 5, 2010

One way to make diaper changes a bit more fun? Sew your own diapers and wipes.  Sounds silly, I know, but I can’t help but feel sort of happy when I get to use something I made myself and that even goes for wiping a baby bum.  I’ve been holding onto a few pieces of baby clothes that got too stained or had a broken zipper; it was either into the trash or find a way to use the fabric in them and I had wipes in mind when I kept them.  I finally got around to cutting some of them up for this quick little project.  Each wipe is approximately 4″x6″ two layers of knit, serged together.  They are small- the perfect size for not only bum wiping, but later for nose and face wipes.  They also gave me a chance to practice my (woefully lacking) serging-with-knits skills. So, one more utilitarian object made a bit more fun.
